Femcities Conferences
Women are still underrepresented in decision-making positions, especially in political decision-making positions. The FemCities conference focuses on women in political decision-making at local level in Europe. In the EU, only 15% of the mayors are women, and only 36% of the members of municipal councils are women[1]. The conference aims to find strategies for the enhancement of women in decision-making positions. Women mayors of European cities will present their experiences and challenges. Concepts and strategies to promote women in political decision-making will be discussed and developed within an international, practical, local, and scientific framework and analysed from a women’s perspective.
Target groups were women in local and regional decision-making positions, women interested in political participation, representatives of European cities and municipal administrations dealing with equality issues as well as gender experts from other fields such as NGOs, universities, etc.
Conference languages: English, French, German (simultanous translation)
